Depending on your interest, you may decide to build an aviary or just put an aviary in your living room.  Of course, your bird&#8217;s needs are just as important as yours, so you should choose one that&#8217;s right for your lifestyle.<\/p>\n<p>Birdkeeping is sometimes referred to as &#8220;birdkeeping&#8221;, a term defined by the eminent aviologist Dr. Jean Delacour as &#8220;the hobby of breeding and breeding in captivity many species of wild birds to maintain their numerical status in nature with the aim of preventing their extinction by providing the stock of birds to be kept&#8221;.  You will notice that it refers to wild bird species, and it is generally accepted that aviculture is limited to the care and breeding of birds that are not fully domesticated, while those that graze and breed domesticated bird species are \u201cbird fanciers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Most people who take up this hobby will buy from a local breeder or pet store, however, more advanced hobbyists may decide to import rare species from abroad.  If you go this route, you must ensure that you comply with the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES).<\/p>\n<p>There are a number of different groups of birds you can choose from, each with their own characteristics and care requirements.  Then within each group, you will need to carefully choose the type that best suits you.  For example, if you want a talking parakeet, just no parrot will do because some species are actually quite quiet.  Some groups of birds with species that make good pets: <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>badriggers<\/li>\n<li>Canary Islands<\/li>\n<li>cockatoo<\/li>\n<li>Cockatiel<\/li>\n<li>the birds<\/li>\n<li>parrots<\/li>\n<li>parrots<\/li>\n<li>Soft pills<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>There are a number of criteria to consider when choosing your bird, for example:<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Some pets will not do well in a cage, and require an aviary<\/li>\n<li>If you settle on a caged bird, you need to take into account that it will not become a bonded companion like the bird you keep indoors.<\/li>\n<li>If you are looking for a talking bird, be sure to choose a species with great mimicking abilities such as the African Gray Parrot<\/li>\n<li>Bird expenses vary greatly, so take your budget into consideration<\/li>\n<li>Parrots and other birds may live to be over 80 years old, so make plans for your pet to outlive you, or choose one with a lifespan that fits your lifestyle<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>There are many other considerations and a lot to learn about keeping birds, but I hope this article helps you get started.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Bird keeping is a very diverse hobby, from raising bantams for eggs to keeping cockatoos for companionship.
