Can crayfish live together in the same tank?

If you’re asking yourself, “Can crayfish live together?” Well, the answer would be a big fat, “it depends.”
There are many factors that play a role in pet crayfish. Trust me, I’ve owned several crayfish over the past few years. I’ve owned two electric blue lobsters and a white lobster that may have killed a small dog.
First, what size tank do you plan to use to keep your lobster in? If you plan to use a 10 gallon aquarium for more than one crayfish, I personally would say this is not a good decision. One of my crayfish fought to death with another one of my crayfish while I was living in a 10 gallon tank. Yes, they got along perfectly for a while, but eventually it came down to the claws, and these guys went strong.
I remember walking in from work one day to see that a blue lobster had been eaten by a white lobster. There were little blue pieces of my lobster all over the tank. She wasn’t pretty, but that’s nature sometimes.
Personally, if you’re planning on having more than one lobster, I’d recommend at least the Twenty gallon fish tank With plenty of hiding places or bunkers. Crayfish like the ability to hide. And the ability to hide is especially important when molting. Because when it molts, it becomes weak and more vulnerable to attacks by crayfish and other fish.
I also recommended keeping the crayfish fed. Now, I don’t mean to feed the crayfish in any way. The lobster is already heating up the tank enough as it is and overfeeding it will only make it worse. So do not overfeed these little ones.
Just remember that crayfish are scavengers and are very aggressive. They are omnivores. They love to eat anything they can get their hands on. Because of their nature, there is pretty much no guarantee they won’t catch or eat other crayfish in your tank. Having said that, try to find aggressive fish, swim close to the top of the tank and/or swim fast if you are looking for tank mates for your crayfish. These types of fish will have the best chance of survival.
So, can crayfish live together in the same aquarium? Yes, it is possible, but there is no guarantee with these crazy little guys.
